March 2022 In Review
March felt like a monumental month for us, and it feels like a big shift happened. The market started to go up again, and we have refocused our priorities on what really matters. Here's what we did last month:
Sub.ID
March saw some big improvements to Sub.ID. First and foremost, the ability to tip or donate to other accounts was implemented.
On each account page on Sub.ID you will now see the "Donate" button in the top right corner of their profile, which allows you to send them a donation in a number of different Dotsama tokens.
Support for Crust Network was added, as well as for more NFT formats, like audio, video, and 3D.
A big performance upgrade was released, so Sub.ID should load 2–3x faster now. The multi-account view was also implemented, so you can aggregate all of your Substrate accounts together to get an overview of your entire Dotsama portfolio.
Twitter Spaces
On Tuesday, March 1st, Polkahäus held a Twitter Space and had Subsocial's founder Alex Siman on to talk about how the Subsocial team helped raise funds for Ukraine.
A few days later, on Friday, March 4th, the Darwinia team had Subsocial's Community Manager Yung Beef on their Twitter Space for an AMA to talk about Subsocial, his background, and what he thinks the future holds.
On Thursday the 31st, we held a Twitter Space with our community to go over our recent community update and answer any questions. The recording is available here.
Start The SubVerse
We held community and public sales on Tokensoft on March 2nd and 3rd, respectively, for our Start The SubVerse event. We sold a good amount of tokens at a $250M valuation, and this will allow us to expand our development team and build Subsocial faster.
Subcontest: Renaming The Web App
From March 17th to the 22nd we held a Subcontest to see who could come up with the best new name for our Subsocial web app. We got lots of great submissions, but have not chosen one yet, and we may not, as we came up with some names of our own. We will keep you all updated about the progress of this.
Distributing Tokens
On March 22nd, we distributed the initial batch of community and public sale tokens, and started the vesting schedules for the sales and The Dotsama Token Claim. Both of these will vest over 6 months. You can find more details here. Soon we will finish the remaining initial distributions to the team, advisors, and investors, and set up the treasury and Subsocial Foundation accounts.
Open Position: Developer Support Manager
As a layer 1 blockchain, we want to focus on building an ecosystem around Subsocial. This primarily means we need to attract developers, and for that we need an excellent developer experience. We are looking for a Developer Support Manager to help us with this task. More information can be found here, and you can join our developer chat if you have any questions.
Open Position: Chief Marketer
We are looking for an expert marketer to help spread awareness about Subsocial and grow our community. If you think this is you, please apply.
Why Subsocial Is The Best
Lots of Web3 social networking projects have popped up recently, so we put out this article explaining why Subsocial is uniquely positioned to overcome all of the drawbacks that our competitors face, like isolation, low security, or high fees.
Updated Roadmap
On March 23rd we updated our roadmap for this year on our website, including our Q1 accomplishments and our goals for Q2 and Q3.
This allows the community to keep track of where we are, and helps us stay focused on our goals. It's easy to get distracted because there are so many features we want to implement, but a good roadmap will help us to prioritize the most important points.
MathWallet Support
The team over at MathWallet has added support for Subsocial's solochain and parachain, and you can now use our web app with MathWallet. Thanks, team!
A Community Update
On March 24th we put out a big update for our community. Every month we put out a review of what we did during the previous month, but that is always in the past.
This community update talks about our plans for the coming months, including everything we need to do before enabling token transfers. If you don't want to read, we also have audio recordings of the article being read in English and Russian.
Pasting Pictures
A long requested feature has finally be added to our web app! Now, you can paste images straight into the text editor, instead of having to use a link to the image. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop pictures onto the text editor to upload them.
Polkadot Decoded
Starting on March 31st, voting opened to determine which talks will be at Polkadot Decoded this summer. Our very own Yung Beef has applied to give a talk about Subsocial, and we need our community to vote for him!
It's going to be an exciting spring and summer! We've got a few things up our sleeves you haven't heard about yet, and we are excited to announce them. As always, thank you for your patience, and thanks for reading.
