Announcing The Winners Of Subsocial's Polkadot Europe Hackathon Bounties

Since announcing our sponsorship of various challenges in the Polkadot Europe Hackathon, we have had a number of teams working on cool applications using Subsocial’s tech stack! Let’s dive in to see how the 5,100 USDT prize pool will be distributed.

For the bounty to build a social reputation dashboard with ranking:

  • Subdot, a reputation dashboard built by Suraj Vijay, winning a prize of 1,000 USDT (and going to dotSocial in Paris to compete in the hackathon finals), with an additional 1,000 possible if he improves the design and deploys it to the mainnet

The finals will take place at the dotSocial event on March 22nd, during Paris Blockchain Week. Best of luck to Suraj!

For the bounty to build a Web3 social dapp with content monetization:

  • Poltube, a video sharing platform with monetization features built by CrazyD fx a.k.a. Abdul Kabugu, winning a prize of 1,500 USDT, with an additional 1,000 possible if he improves the design and documentation, and deploys the app to the mainnet

We also had two runner-ups for that bounty:

  • Quereers, a Quora-like app with monetization features built by Bolaji Ahmad, winning 300 USDT
  • AmazingGreen, a platform for municipal DAOs focused on energy infrastructure, winning 300 USDT

None of these are live on Subsocial’s mainnet yet, but Poltube plans to launch very soon.

We got some great feedback from these participants that will continue to help us improve our developer experience, and we look forward to working with them as they continue building their applications.

In somewhat related news, Polkanext, an ecosystem project focused on education and training, has already spoken with the Poltube team about using their platform for hosting!

The Subsocial ecosystem is heating up, as demand for socially-enabled Web3 applications increases. We are working to build the social layer for the Polkadot ecosystem, complete with many different niche applications for every use case, as well as integrating social features into existing applications in the ecosystem.

More hackathons are on the way in the rest of 2023. In the meantime, if you’re interested in building on Subsocial, join our developer chat!
